Lynx at NAMM 2024: Good Times in Anaheim
January 31, 2024
The last time the musical instrument and professional audio industries had a traditional NAMM Show in January, it was 2020. For reasons we know all too well, the following year the show had to be held virtually. 2022 and 2023 saw rather scaled-back versions of NAMM, held in June and April respectively. It had therefore been four full years since the NAMM Show was held at the proper time and place, and we’re happy to say that at least for Lynx, the 2024 NAMM Show was full of optimism and energy.
Debut of Hilo 2
Our biggest news at NAMM 2024 was the debut of Hilo 2, the next generation of Lynx’s acclaimed reference A/D D/A converter. Most of the people coming by the Lynx booth seemed to want to get the details of this major update to our landmark converter/interface tool, and we had the Hilo 2 there at the booth where people could see (and feel) its updated in-plane switching LCD with capacitive touch. We’re expecting to deliver the first batch of Hilo 2 to Lynx dealers and international distributors this spring.

Aurora(n) and Dolby Atmos®
It was at the NAMM Show in April 2023 that we first announced the free firmware update that allowed Aurora(n) to have compatibility for use with Dolby Atmos immersive audio systems. Later last year, that update became available, and we met with visitors to NAMM 2024 who were making the extensive plans to get their recording environments ready to do Atmos mixing using their Aurora(n) for audio conversion and interfacing. We anticipate some exciting results from their efforts!
Crowds in the Lynx Booth
As has been the case in recent years, we were situated in the ACC North Hall along with many of our compatriots in the pro audio realm. The Lynx booth had a near constant flow of NAMM visitors; there were occasional moments where the aisles were so packed and the ambient noise level grew to the point that we recall from NAMM shows of yore, when all the exhibitors were shoved into a single series of halls. For the most part, it remained an exciting and busy show from start to finish, with plenty of productive meetings with our dealers and international distributors, and the opportunity to meet with many Lynx users to hear about the projects they’re working on and to answer their gear questions.
Getting the 2024 NAMM show started on Thursday January 25.
As has been the case since Lynx got started in 1998, NAMM marks a great occasion that lets us get face to face with the audio engineers, mixers, producers, musicians, and others who turn to our products every day. If you can say one thing about NAMM, it’s that we’re grateful to get our whole industry family together, even if it’s just for a brief few days in January each year.
