Lynx Dealer Spotlight: B&H
May 16, 2024
It was just over 50 years ago in 1973 when wife and husband team Blimie Schreiber and Herman Schreiber — whose first initials were tapped for the name of the store they’d soon open — founded B&H Photo. Like many wildly successful businesses, B&H started small, as a little photo film shop located in the Tribeca area of New York City. It didn’t take long for word to get around about the Schreibers’ expertise and fair business practices, and later in the ‘70s, they moved up to the city’s Photo District on West 17th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. It was there that B&H began to expand their range of products and services, and by the 1990s, the store had moved into a wide range of photography products as well as electronics, computers, lighting, and audio gear.
In 1997, the store moved to its present Manhattan location at 420 Ninth Avenue, at the intersection with West 34th Street. Expanding again ten years later, in 2007 B&H opened a second floor above its original sales floor, resulting in a total of 70,000 sq ft of sales space. Today, B&H is regarded as one of the world’s leading suppliers of tech gear for creative people. They keep nearly half a million items in stock, with 11+ football fields’ worth of leading-edge technology plus hard-to-find rarities.
B&H has been honored with plenty of recognition for their efforts, having received Consumer Reports’ No. 1 Top Rating for Best Electronics Retailer and the leading online consumer electronics retailer. Newsweek named B&H as one of America’s Top Companies for Customer Service. Despite their impressive growth and industry kudos, B&H still retains the feel of a small, neighborhood mom & pop shop, being a proud, family owned business built on the pillars of honesty and treating people right. Their friendly sales and tech staff are happy to give you a hands-on demonstration of gear you either just bought or equipment you already own. Also, if you want to see perhaps the biggest conveyor belt system you’ve ever imagined, just visit B&H and look up.
If you’re in the market for new Lynx products, B&H is a fantastic choice. You can turn to them for your next Lynx Aurora(n) and Hilo audio converter/interface tools, along with all the expansion cards and cables for a full studio, broadcast, or live sound setup. Plus, B&H is open and ready to serve your needs for Lynx gear seven days a week… except for Saturdays (don’t worry… you can still use their extraordinary web site over the weekend to buy your gear regardless).
